In the United States smarter cities with network services

A phenomenal figure, exceeding 4.6 thousand billion dollars. This is how much public services in the USA can save in only seven years, by implementing smart networks in some of the larger cities.

The calculation was revealed at the presentation of a large project of connected infrastructures, which involves large companies such as Cisco, Deloitte, Ericsson, GE, IBM, Intel, Qualcomm Technologies and AT&T.

The project concerns large cities such as Atlanta, Dallas and Chicago and will be supported by the Smart City Network Operation Center platformdeveloped by ATT and by the Georgia Institute of  Technology, which will manage a series of services.

Smart lighting is one of the first interventions scheduled. The street light network will also be used to monitor traffic and safety. Smart mobility with car sharing and public transport monitoring based on traffic conditions will be some of the most important services offered to citizens, who will have access to a range of other useful information, such as the parking situation, and updates on any events in progress in the city.

The communication network of the new smart cities will be interactive. The apps will be used by the citizens to receive, but also communicate, useful information for everybody in real time. And so our cities continue to evolve…
