As for safety, the new lighting systems can also offer other advantages, such as for example the inclusion of security cameras or presence sensors that can increase light levels when it detects people within its range. Moreover, specific studies have demonstrated that even a high colour rendering index helps perceive faces and make people feel safer after dusk.

Safety also concerns the circulation of traffic along roads. In cities, we witness the multiplication of differentiated routes for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians and the latest standards have increased the requirements of street lighting, especially in the most critical points, such as crossroads and pedestrian routes.
