Turning the spotlights on Frosinone’s new stadium

Officially inaugurated this year on September 29^th, the “Benito Stirpe” stadium in Frosinone is Italy’s fourth private facility after the one owned by the Juventus Football Club in Turin, the one in Reggio Emilia and the one in Udine. The “Benito Stirpe” stadium has a covered seating capacity of over 16,000 and replicates the model of English stadiums where spectators are closer to the pitch and multiple types of sports and shows can take place. Last but not least, it also boasts latest technology, such as the lighting installation designed and developed by Disano illuminazione.

Frosinone’s new stadium is meant to become a landmark for a vast territory, even for events other than top series football games. The facility includes a skybox and a hospitality area. Below pitch level there are the locker rooms, the doping control rooms, the conference hall, a large media room, a gym and all the commercial and administrative offices. Lastly, there is the store for the Frosinone Football Club merchandising covering a surface area of 4000 square metres.

The lighting installation

The lighting installation developed by Disano guarantees the level of lighting required by Series A football games and televised events. It ensures horizontal luminance values of 2000 lux and vertical luminance of 1800 lux. Each one of the two 30-metre light towers mounts 40 Disano Forum HF spotlights ensuring a power of 2000 W, in addition to 20 Disano Forum spotlights on the roof covering the grandstand mounted at a height of 24 metres.

The new stadium was inaugurated in one year, completing an extensive redevelopment project that started decades ago. The chairman of CONI, Giovanni Malagò, who attended the inauguration ceremony, described the new stadium as “a jewel and an example for other cities in Italy”. Nicola Ottaviani, mayor of Frosinone, reminded that the facility is “an important landmark for the entire area”. The new stadium is dedicated to Benito Stirpe, entrepreneur and chairman of the Frosinone Football Club in the sixties and father of Maurizio, the Club’s current chairman.
