The Gran Parque Central stadium at Montevideo, Uruguay is one of the most ancient football stadiums in the world. Built in 1900, it has been the home of the Club Nacional de Football, one of the legendary teams of the Uruguayan capital, ever since its foundation.

The stadium is mostly famous for hosting the inaugural match of the first World Football Cup on June 13^th 1930.

The Gran Parque Central has been extended and renovated many times over its long history.In 2016 a major restoration plan was approved to include the creation of two sections of the stands along the long sides, and the addition of a second row of seats in the side stands.

The stadium now reaches a capacity of over 40,000 viewers, becoming the second largest stadium in Uruguay, after the Estadio Centenario.

 

 

The new lighting system

The lighting system was redone entirely. Next to the existing floodlights, 66 new 2kW High Performance Forum (Disano) floodlights were added.

Lighting levels are now 1000 lux horizontal luminance and 1200 lux vertical luminance.

The lighting design was curated by Iluminación Disano S.A. The distributor was Darko Lighting.
