Osram Specialty Lighting, a unit of the German manufacturer specialized in the lighting of the healthcare, show and entertainment sectors, recently announced the acquisition of ADB, a French company dealing in the lighting of theatres and TV studios. The acquired business will be an essential part of OSRAM’s subsidiary Clay Paky, a historic brand in the sector.
“The acquisition of ADB TTV SAS and of the acclaimed ADB brand will allow us to further consolidate our position in the innovation-driven entertainment market”, said Hans-Joachim Schwabe, CEO of the Business Unit Specialty Lighting at Osram.
Founded in Belgium in 1920, ADB TTV SAS has been a leader in the lighting for theatres and TV studios for years. Its range of products includes lighting fixtures, dimmers and light control desks. Products are used in internationally famed theatres, such as the National Centre for the Performing Arts of Beijing, the Palais Garnier opera house in Paris and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
“ADB boasts great experience in stage and studio lighting and offers a vast range of products that can fully supplement our own portfolio. With this acquisition, we will be able to merge ADB’s unique application focus with our innovation drive and technology leadership. As a result, we will be able to design the next generation of products to drive the evolution of the demanding theatre market”, explained Pio Nahum, CEO of Clay Paky.
